The Work and Family Burnout Programme combines 7 sessions of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy with 7 group Reformer Pilates sessions, with each session taking place on a weekly basis. This combination addresses both the mental and physical symptoms of burnout. This programme is available to anyone who is experiencing burnout, not just from the work or family aspect.


The programme works by helping you identify your emotional and behavioural triggers. We will support you  in building up your resilience to these triggers by providing you with the necessary tools and skills. These tools will eventually help you take back control in your life. The Reformer Pilates aspect will help to strengthen your mind-body connection as it requires mindful and precise movements. The CBT aspect will provide you with coping skills which challenge your unhealthy thought patterns.


Sessions and Personalisation


Prior to starting the programme, you will receive an initial assessment which will evaluate both your mental and physical health. This will allow us to personalise your programme so that it is effective for you. During the assessment, both a mental health and physical health specialist will be present in order to gain a full understanding of your goals and aspirations from the programme. You will be able to identify your key stress triggers, behavioural and fitness patterns which will all be included in your tailored plan.


Your progress will be continuously monitored by one of our specialists so that necessary adjustments can be made to your care plan. If needed, you will receive a follow up session 1-2 months after completing your programme to ensure consolidation of your coping strategies. 


Techniques and Benefits


Our personalised programme will equip you with coping skills such as cognitive restructuring, which challenges negative thought patterns and replaces them with a more balanced perspective. It also equips you with problem solving skills to break up stressful and unmanageable situations into manageable steps. The main skill we aim to provide you with is self-compassion and acceptance. This involves the reduction in self-criticism. 


Breath control is an important skill which is crucial in times of distress. Being able to notice where in your body you hold the most tension results in a greater mind -- body connection.


The Work and Family Burnout Programme is tailored to your schedule as it is very flexible. This means that you are more likely to dedicate time to yourself for much needed self-care. CBT is scientifically proven to lower mental fatigue and lead to boosted energy levels as well as improve the quality of your sleep. Mindful movement and controlled breathing stimulates blood flow and regulates the nervous system which energises individuals. 


The use of controlled, dynamic stretching in Pilates lengthens the muscles and improves mobility. The main component of reformer Pilates is core engagement, which builds postural strength to support daily functioning.

Our Work and Family Burnout Programme takes place in our clinic in King’s Cross, London. We offer a free 15 minute consultation to discuss your concerns and to learn more about the programme.
